Psychology for stress, health and life’s challenges

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed or struggling to adjust to a health challenge or life change?

You don't have to wait until things become unmanageable to seek support. Psychology can help you make sense of what's happening, understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies to move forward.

I work with adults experiencing stress, burnout, health challenges, anxiety, low mood and major life transitions. Together we'll identify what's getting in the way and develop approaches that fit your life and circumstances.

I'm a New Zealand registered psychologist with specialised training in health psychology. I work with adults experiencing stress, anxiety, health challenges and major life changes, helping them make sense of what is happening and develop practical strategies to move forward.

With over 15 years' experience working in New Zealand's health system, I've supported people through some of life's most difficult challenges, including cancer, chronic pain, burn injuries, heart conditions and respiratory illness. I've also helped people navigate the pressures of everyday life, including stress, overwhelm and low mood.

My work has given me a particular interest in the connection between physical health and emotional wellbeing, and how psychology can help people adapt, cope and move forward when life doesn't go according to plan.

In addition to my clinical work, I work with organisations to support staff wellbeing, resilience and sustainable performance through practical, evidence-based workshops and presentations.

You might be the kind of person I work with if...

  • You're feeling overwhelmed and struggling to keep up with the demands of work, family or life.

  • You're living with a health condition, injury or diagnosis and finding it difficult to adjust.

  • You put a lot of pressure on yourself and rarely feel like you're doing enough.

  • You're supporting everyone else but neglecting your own wellbeing.

  • You look like you're coping on the outside but feel exhausted on the inside.

How I can help

  • Stress and overwhelm

When life feels overwhelming, it can be difficult to understand what is happening or know what to do next. Psychology can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and develop practical strategies to manage stress and improve wellbeing.

  • Health challenges and life changes

Health challenges, illness, injury and major life changes can affect every part of life. Miriam helps people adjust, cope with uncertainty, and find ways to move forward while living with change.

  • Anxiety, worry and low mood

Sometimes our minds get stuck in patterns of worry, self-criticism or feeling overwhelmed. Psychology can help you understand these patterns and develop new ways of responding.

  • Workshops and consulting

Miriam works with organisations to apply psychological principles to support staff wellbeing, resilience and sustainable performance through engaging, practical workshops and presentations.
